A living social identity for a pet retailer.

ZooHouse is a retail brand selling products and accessories for pets. In this category the buyer's decision rests less on a price list than on how they feel about the brand — because what is being bought is care for a member of the family. Advertol built the brand's social media presence on exactly that emotional connection, with one aim: turn the shop into a community.

Challenge

The pet retail category carries a very wide product range, and most brands use social media as nothing more than a catalogue: product, price, next product. A feed like that collects an audience but builds no attachment — the user sees the product and does not remember the brand. Meanwhile the question that matters most to a pet owner is not the product itself but whether it suits their animal, and that question went unanswered. In a market with high competition and similar products, standing out was possible through attitude rather than assortment. The challenge was to turn the feed from a catalogue into a conversation.

What we did

We built the brand's social identity around the daily life of a pet owner rather than around a product catalogue. The content plan took in care advice, feeding and grooming topics and seasonal recommendations — with products presented as a natural part of that context. The brand's warm, lively visual tone was held consistently across every format, so posts are recognisable in the feed at a glance. Organic content and advertising worked as one system: content built the audience and the trust, advertising carried specific products and promotions to the right segments.

Result

The channels turned from a product feed into a space where pet owners recognise themselves. The audience began connecting with the brand through a shared interest rather than through a product, which strengthened recognition. Useful content and advertising working together improved the quality of reach and set the brand apart from the similar feeds of its competitors. The project showed that in retail, social media is the strongest channel not for showing a product but for building a relationship.
